When it comes to the company’s Galaxy Note line, it seems that Samsung just can’t catch a break. Even those living under a rock knew about the Galaxy Note 7 saga, which Samsung seemingly bounced back from with the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. However, memories from that confusing and messy era have resurfaced with today’s recall of over 10,000 Galaxy Note 4 batteries.
According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recall affects refurbished Galaxy Note 4 units whose batteries were placed by FedEx Supply Chain and then distributed through AT&T’s insurance program. The problem is that some of these phones were outfitted with “counterfeit” batteries that might make them overheat.

The good news is that, even though there are around 10,200 batteries affected by the recall, there has only been one report of a counterfeit battery overheating. Furthermore, the Galaxy Note 4 features a removable battery, so folks can just return the defective battery and pick up a new one.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission advises anyone whose Galaxy Note 4 batteries are affected by the recall to stop using them immediately. FedEx will send out replacement batteries to affected owners, along with a postage-paid box to return the recalled batteries.
