How to Solve the Issue of Facebook Messenger crashing on iPhone and iPad?
This guide refers to both the iPhone and iPad as the issue is common on all devices that run the iOS.1. Update the iOS Software on your iDevice:
The most common cause for the Facebook Messenger crashing on iPhone or iPad is the outdated software on the Apple device. To make sure the iPhone and iPad’s operating system is up-to-date, go to Settings > General > Software Update. If an update is available, install it. The update will fix the bug that is causing FB crashes. However, if your operating system is updated and the issue is not fixed, then go to the next step described below.
2. Update Facebook Messenger App:
Next, make sure the Facebook app is updated by going to the App Store > Updates > Update All (located in the upper right-hand corner).
You can also scroll through the list of apps, find the Facebook app, and update it manually.
After updating the Facebook, check to make sure the problem is resolved. If yes, then great but if the problem is not fixed, then move on to the third step.
3. Delete and Install Again Facebook Messenger App:
If the app is still causing trouble, then it’s time to delete the app completely from your device and reinstalling it to see if the problem is fixed.
4. Remove and Add Again your Facebook Account:
Sometimes, the problem can be fixed by deleting the account from the app and logging back again.
Don’t worry! This does not delete your complete Facebook account. You are only logging out for a while and signing back again.
5. Reset all Settings on your iPhone or iPad:
As one of the last resort, you can try resetting all settings on the phone. This will restore your iPhone’s settings to factory defaults; however, it won’t delete any personal information from your device.
To reset go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings > enter your pass code and tap Reset All Settings.
6. Restore your iPhone or iPad:
If the Facebook is continuing to crash on your device, then there is a probability that your device has a software issue which can only be resolved by “Restoring your device”. Unfortunately, this process will erase everything from your device. However, you can backup your data through iCloud or iTunes.
After the backup process is completed, connect your device to a computer and restore it. A DFU restore is recommended which resolves most of the issues present in your device.
When the restore is finished, use iCloud or iTunes again to restore your personal data back to your device after which we hope the problem you were facing regarding the Facebook app is resolved.
