TextyClock Adds Text-Based Clock to the iPhone Lock Screen [Jailbreak Tweak]

The Lock screen in iOS 10 displays a great deal of information such as the current time, notifications that you’ve received, and app widgets. The clock is one of the most useful features of the Lock screen, and some of us even open the Lock screen just to view the current time.
TextyClock is a jailbreak tweak that adds some spice to your iPhone Lock screen by displaying the time in words rather than digits. It replaces the digital clock with a text-based clock that shows you the current time in English words or the default system language. The best part is that it supports sentence phrases as well, such as “Quarter to Nine” or “Half past Six”.
One of the best features of TextyClock is that it provides you with tons of options to customize the clock and make it look the way you want. You can change the position of the clock, adjust the font size, choose the font style, change the color of the text, and much more.
The tweak works with both the Lock screen as well as the Status bar. So instead of the digit-based clock in the Status bar, you’ll view a new clock that spells out the current time in English words.

Once you install TextyClock, head to its preferences pane in Settings to configure and customize the look and feel of the tweak. You can do the following:
  • Enable or disable the tweak on demand.
  • Choose whether the text clock should appear on the Lock screen, Status bar, or both.
  • Force the clock to be spelled out in English words and override the system language.
  • Show or hide the clock.
  • Show or hide the date.
  • Choose between lowercase, uppercase, or normal style for the Lock screen clock and date, and Status bar clock.
  • Choose the appearance style of the clock and date. The available options are Thin, Bold, Normal, and Italic.
  • Adjust the font size.
  • Align the clock and date to the left, center, or the right side of the Lock screen.
  • Choose whether the clock and date should be displayed vertically or horizontally.
  • Enable or disable sentence phrases, such as “Quarter to Ten”.
Once you’re done configuring the tweak, the changes will take place right away. In case you don’t notice any changes, you can respring your device and the new settings will be saved.
While the tweak brings a unique concept to the Lock screen, many of you might prefer to stick with the original digit-based clock, which provides a better representation of the time and is much more easier to read than the text-based clock. As such, TextyClock is more of an aesthetics tweak that will be most favored by users who are into customization.
If you’re interested to give this tweak a try, TextyClock is available for purchase for $1.50 from Cydia’s BigBoss repo. The tweak supports jailbroken devices running iOS 7 – iOS 10.
